Bastille's Dan Smith Advocates Equality In Music, Praises Female-Led Team

Bastille may be a band consisting of four men, but the team around it is predominantly female and on Monday (April 15), singer Dan Smith took to Twitter to praise the talented women he works alongside and advocate for gender equality in the music business.

"Although we're a band of four guys, our team is predominantly female. We feel incredibly lucky to work alongside a whole load of very talented women, internationally, across all the things that we do," he said in a video. "From our female-led management, to PR, to creative, label and publishing executives, digital and A&R to name a few."

"I also help run an independent record label (@BLPrecords), which has a roster that is 50% female because there is just so much incredible female talent out there both making music and working behind-the-scenes," he continued. "But we can always do better, so we pledge to continue to do everything we can to equalise the balance."

Aside from championing gender equality in music, Dan is also gearing up to run the London Marathon later this month and is raising money for breast cancer research along the way. As of now, he's raised over £11,000, which is 184% over his donation goal.
