On Friday (November 1) Andrew Yang orchestrated a campaign rally in Des Moines, Iowa, and gave supporters an extra surprise when Weezer's frontman Rivers Cuomo and bassist Scott Shriner, along with a drummer, performed a set during the aptly named Yangapalooza! event.
As Pitchfork reports, Cuomo and Shriner performed a mix of Weezer classics and covers off The Teal Album, which they released earlier this year. They kicked things off with “Buddy Holly” before launching into stripped down versions of “Undone - The Sweater Song,” “Island in the Sun,” “Beverly Hills,” and more, while covers included TLC’s “No Scrubs,” Toto’s “Africa,” and a-ha’s “Take on Me.” When they performed "Say It Ain't So," the Democratic presidential nominee hopeful took the stage to sing along and dance with the band.

Weezer isn't the only band to endorse a potential presidential candidate. Last weekend Jack White performed at his old high school during a Bernie Sanders rally. His 25-minute-long set included selections from his solo and White Stripes catalogs, as well as a cover of Bob Dylan's "License To Kill."
Weezer will be heading out on the Hella Mega Tour with Green Day and Fall Out Boy next summer, and plan to release their new album Van Weezer on May 15, 2020.
